I will eventually read Stones From The River, WendyCat, because it is sitting on my shelf! Just don't know if it will happen for this particular challenge or not :)

I am checking out everyone else's list to help get ideas for this one. I have plenty of new authors I want to read, but how to narrow it down is the big question. Haha
Sarah Waters is a good choice . . . Hmmm.
On your alternates list, Stones From a River is one of my all time favorites. I hope you will have the chance to get to it. :-)

Imani: I've been wanting to read both these authors for quite some time now!
Carrie K: I'll let you know what I think of Atonement and The Known World after I've read them ;)
Sarah: LOL! I know what you mean about SO MANY books!!!

I just bought that Edward P. Jones novel after reading a review of his short stories in the London Review of Books. And the Sarah Waters is on my shelf. I'd be inclined to pick up one of them next if I didn't have so many others lined up.

That's a great list! I've had The Known World and Antonement on my TBR shelves since they came out. Gah. I still haven't read them!

Great list! I have Sarah Waters' Fingersmith on my desk as I write this, and I'm enjoying it thoroughly! And perhaps I'll have to add Alice Munro to my alternates list....so many books (happy sigh).

Laura - I'm pretty excited about reading these books; I'll try to temper my reviews so as not to increase the size of your TBR any more *giggles*

What a great list! I've only read 1 of your 6 (and that was for the NYT Notable Challenge). I can't wait for the reviews even though I know that will likely increase the size of my TBR pile!

I'm excited about my list! I have heard such great things about both Sarah Waters and Alice Monroe - I can't believe I haven't read any of their books yet!

What a phenomenal list, Wendy. It makes me want to add all kinds of things to my own. I am especially kicking myself for not including some of the books that I want to read for the NYTNotable Challenge, like "All Aunt Hagar's Children." That one may have to join the list immediately.
I have only read one Sarah Waters, "Fingersmith," and it was phenomenal, so I have been wanting to read "Night Watch" and "Tipping the Velvet" for some time. Maybe that would be a natural for Joy's Challenge!
Meanwhile, Alice Munro is one of my very favorite writers, and I think I can say with confidence that "Open Secrets" is my favorite of the three books I have read by her.
