I feel like I miss a lot of the underlying themes so it helps to talk to other readers who have read his work, or read the reviews. I read <em>Slow Man</em> earlier this year and liked it - but it was bit odd in places. I think Coetzee is fond of symbolism. I've only read one of Coetzee's books (<em>Elizabeth Costello</em>), and didn't care for it. This sounds like a better choice.
