I followed you here from Semicolon. This book has been on my TBR pile for about a decade (wince). I loved Handmaid’s Tale and Alias Grace blew me away. I was thinking of suggesting this for my book group next month. Your review may help galvanize my choice!

I read this one last summer and was really haunted by the story. Atwood weaves such a beautiful tale in all of her novels. Out of the three I’ve read this one isn’t my favorite but that is only comparatively speaking.

Well, I don’t think you are alone, Teddy – a lot of readers didn’t like this one as well as her others. My all time favorite of hers is Handmaid’s Tale – but I haven’t found a “stinker” in the bunch yet

I love Margaret Atwood, but this is not close to my favorite Atwood book. I gave it a 3.5/5. My favorites are Handmaids Tale, Orax and Crake, and Alias Grace.
