This morning I gazed at my stack of books I have yet to read this month…and realized, yet again, I have overextended myself. Lately, I have been requesting (and receiving) quite a few Advance Reader’s Editions. These are the books I really need to read first; and yet there are so many other great books beckoning to me.
Here are the early review books slated for reading in the next two weeks (can you hear me snickering?):

Belong to Me, by Marisa de los Santos (Harper Collins)

Jackfish, The Vanishing Village, by Sarah Felix Burns (Inanna Publications)

Olive Kitteridge, by Elizabeth Strout (Random House)

The Sister, by Poppy Adams (Knopf)
I’m currently reading Uncle Tom’s Cabin, by Harriet Beecher Stowe…which I’m enjoying. It is a classic I haven’t read before, believe it or not.
Also on the TBR Mountain are books I was supposed to finish either in February or March (still snickering):
Angle of Repose, by Wallace Stegner
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, by Mark Haddon
The Magnificent Ambersons, by Booth Tarkington
Independent People, by Halldor Laxness
If my math is correct, that is nine books (not counting my current read) which I have “scheduled” myself to read before the month ends. That comes out to one book every day and a half. Oh, and I didn’t even mention War and Peace which I haven’t yet started, but was supposed to be done with by mid-April.
I don’t think anyone can say I don’t have enough wonderful books from which to pick my next reading adventure!

One book every day and a half; that would be quite a reading feat! I’m lucky if I manage one a week. Sounds like a great pile, though; I am always happier than sad to have more books than I know how to read (if that makes sense).
Jeane: It makes sense
I’m on my fifth book of the month – but that is nowhere near a book every 1.5 days…so I think it is safe to say I will not read all these books before the end of the month…but I will have fun trying!
I have Belong to Me and Olive Kitteridge on Mount TBR too. Both books look so appealing, but I really need to read my challenge books. Welcome to Book Overextenders Anonymous! LOL.
Wow, these look really great. Am definitely looking forwad to hearing your thoughts as you go through them.
Jill: That is exactly the kind of group I need!!!!
Verbivore: I have been getting some really good early review books these days – and I’m looking forward to reading them
I can relate to overextending yourself on the ARCs. When I first started acquiring them, I was just so darned excited. And, then I began to get more of them and more of them, to the point that the regular reading went by the wayside. I’m more particular, now, but I still always feel obligated to shove those ARCs to the front of the queue.
Hey! I see my book is up there on yer list! (Jackfish) Hope you enjoy it – other reviewers have been shocked and blown away by the content (I guess people are judging my poor book by it’s demure little cover).
It is a tough read – emotionally speaking – but seems to be touching people in a very profound way. Who could ask for more than that?
Fortunately all my current AREs are books I would have chosen to read anyway, but that doesn’t alter the fact that they’ve arrived at the same time as a really tantalising pile from the library. I’ve decided to treat myself over Easter with three superb looking detective stories – nothing too taxing, real holiday reading.
Nancy: I definitely feel a responsibility to move the ARCs to the top of the heap. I’ve been trying to be a bit more selective of late because I’ve received so many and I don’t want to completely ignore the rest of my TBR books!
Sarah: Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I am really looking forward to reading your book, which just arrived the other day
I will post a review here once I’ve read it.
Ann: I’ve been very lucky with my AREs of late – they have been quite good for the most part. I am thinking I’d like to read some mysteries pretty soon
I have a ton of ARCs, too, thanks to my job at B&N. I just finished Belong to Me and have to say I loved it as much as I love the cover art!! You can pop over to my blog to read my review, if you like. No spoilers.
Les: I’ve always wanted to work at B&N – someday I’m going to do that… I will be reading Belong to Me next. Now I’m off to read your review
