Amping up for the 24 Hour Read-A-Thon

This weekend is the much awaited 24 hour read-a-thon sponsored by Dewey. Who would have thought I’d be in the middle of forest fires, sitting around waiting to see if we’d be evacuated? But, I’m still going to try to participate as much as I can.

Did I mention this is a charity event? I’ve posted a Mr. Linky on my blog if anyone is interested in sponsoring me…the charity is Reading is Fundamental, and anything people want to commit to them would be very welcome. You can also check out my update on the challenge here.

It’s not too late to join in the fun…hope to see you there!

Wendy, I couldn’t find an email link, sorry.. but you are the winner of my Choose My Book To Read contest. So if you will email me your mailing info I will be sending you my copy of Out Stealing Horses after I read it (and it shouldn’t take long, I plan on starting it tomorrow evening). BTW, I joined the Read-a-thon too, see you there!

Wow, good luck with the fires. We have forest fires here, too, so I know how anxious you must be about it. Or maybe we’re more anxious because a good chunk of the houses in our town were destroyed by fire a few years ago. I hope you won’t be evacuated. How are your lungs holding up?

Dew: Thanks…it is very anxiety producing. Once you’ve been through it, or seen the results of what a forest fire can do, you never forget it. We are staying indoors for the most part. At night the smoke thins out up here (it tends to drop into the valley because of cooler temperatures in the mountains) so we can open our windows and get some fresh air. The air quality has been in the “very dangerous” zone for two days now.
