This weekend is the much awaited 24 hour read-a-thon sponsored by Dewey. Who would have thought I’d be in the middle of forest fires, sitting around waiting to see if we’d be evacuated? But, I’m still going to try to participate as much as I can.

Wow, good luck with the fires. We have forest fires here, too, so I know how anxious you must be about it. Or maybe we’re more anxious because a good chunk of the houses in our town were destroyed by fire a few years ago. I hope you won’t be evacuated. How are your lungs holding up?
Dew: Thanks…it is very anxiety producing. Once you’ve been through it, or seen the results of what a forest fire can do, you never forget it. We are staying indoors for the most part. At night the smoke thins out up here (it tends to drop into the valley because of cooler temperatures in the mountains) so we can open our windows and get some fresh air. The air quality has been in the “very dangerous” zone for two days now.
