…and captures the 50m Freestyle win in American Record time. How cool is that? But, don’t expect to see her swim in both the 100m and 50m in Bejing. She most likely will only be competing in the 50m where she has the best chance to win a Gold medal. Either way – she’s secured her spot as America’s sweetheart.

I watched this tonight on TV — so incredible, the margin of victory. One could almost understand an “older” woman competing in longer, endurance-type events, but the sprint — she’s awesome!
Verbatim: I know what you mean – we’re used to seeing “older” women in events like the marathon…where age actually benefits them; but it is nearly unheard of to see a woman over 40 being able to best women 20 years younger in speed events. She is such a thrilling competitor to watch…and as you say, she is winning by big margins!
