Yummy Mummy Manifesto – Giveaway

Ballantine Books sent me a complimentary copy of this luscious book (released May 20, 2008). Since I’m not a mommy (nor a mommy-to-be) I didn’t read the book cover to cover. But I did thumb through its gorgeous pages. This is a big, glossy manual of sorts which explores the art of mothering. What makes this different from other books on motherhood is its approach to style and decor, and “holding on to your spirit,  creativity, wit, and sensuality” during and after pregnancy. I especially loved the beautiful illustrations. Here are a couple to whet your appetite (click on each to enlarge):

I’ve decided to give this book away to one lucky winner. And this is how you can win:

  1. Go to the blog Novels Now, read one of the book reviews posted there, and leave a comment.
  2. Then come back here and leave a comment for me here on this post. You MUST tell me on which post at Novels Now you left a comment. I’d also love to hear why you’d like to win this book.

Contest is open only to US and Canadian residents. I will randomly draw a name on July 26th.

Good Luck!

  1. I posted comments on Unaccustomed Earth and The Wednesday Sisters.

This book looks like fun. As a new mom, I certainly don’t need anymore Mommy books, but….

  2. No need for an entry, but I wanted to let you know we got you posted on Win a Book! Great contest!

I am a mommy of three … ‘nuf said 🙂

  3. I want in! I posted a review on Madapple, which I just read last month and loved!

I’m a Mommy, so this one looks interesting! And I’m a Mommy who needs some style!

I just posted a commen at your review for White Mary. How come I just now have heard of Novels Now? When was that blog started? I “know” most of the contributors, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it!

Oh, and why I would love the book: I first saw it on MotherTalk but missed out on the Blog tour, and it’s been on my TBR list ever since. Plus, it would be fun to see what my hubby said if I left it lying on the coffee table. 🙂

Hello, I left a comment on the release date pages. I read the review about the book “River!” Thanks, Cindi

  4. I read and commented on the review of “The Middle Place” — well done!

I left a comment on the second review of Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. Here’s the link.

As for the Yummy Mummy Manifesto, I would love this because I feel like my purpose in life has been to be a mother and it has completely fulfilled me. The pictures of mommies and the love so readily displayed between mother and child in the images just completely hits home with me.

  5. I would love to be entered in the drawing. I left a comment on the Lace Reader post. Love your reviews, by the way!

As for why I am enraptured with the idea of the Yummy Mummy Manifesto – my husband and I are just about to start adding to the family and the idea of “holding on to your spirit, creativity, wit, and sensuality” during and after pregnancy” is something that really resonated with me. The reminder that I can still maintain my sense of self even with the new job of being a mother is something comforting and inspiring to me. And I love the artwork.
