Devil’s Brood, by Sharon Kay Penman – I was thrilled to receive this Advance Reader’s Edition. The book is scheduled for release October 7, 2008. I am a huge Penman fan and this is the long awaited third book in the Trilogy of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine (first in the series is When Christ and His Saints Slept; second in the series is Time and Chance). Penman writes compelling historical fiction. I can’t wait to read this one!

I have never heard of Penman. Sounds like a interesting series.
She’s fabulous, Confuzzled! You should check her out!
I didn’t know about this trilogy (or the writer, for that matter) and although I’m not a great reader of historical fiction, I am interested in that particular period. I think we very much under-estimate what Henry II did to regularize our laws and commercial systems. I shall have to look these out. Thanks.
Ann: I think you would like Penman’s novels. They are VERY historical fiction – but beautifully written. No one writes historical fiction quite like Penman (in my opinion!).
