My plans are very similar to yours Wendy. I am not joining anymore challenges in 2008 and I hope to finish what I have but if I don’t I am just going to relax about it. I want to keep the pleasure in my reading and not be a slave to what’s scheduled.
As for 2009, I would like to continue with the few perpetual challenges I have and then I think I will simply read for fun. Maybe a few time-limited challenges but I am thinking of imposing a limit on myself for how many I can join.

Wendy, as usual we are on the same wavelength! I haven’t blogged about it, but have also decided not to join so many challenges and be more focused on some of my long-term, perpetual challenges. I see Jill is heading in a similar direction, too!

I signed up for far fewer challenges than you did, and will finish them, but I’m finding that I’m not signing up for new ones. I only have one active challenge that will finish this year, and two that carry over into 2009. Other than that, I’m going to continue reading prizewinners, Viragos, and books from other countries. That strategy gives me goals to pursue, without locking me in.

As usual, the bookie soulmates are in lock step!

Don’t feel bad. I am overcommitted and underdelivering too. Lesson learned from 2009 – I like your idea of focusing on the perpetual challenges more.
