The Lincoln Lawyer, his first book featuring Mickey Haller, was better. I am still reading this one and liking it, but the meeting of Haller and Bosch lacks chemistry. So far in my reading, Bosch doesn’t fit in very well.

I am a diehard Michael Connelly fan; especially a fan of his Harry Bosch books. I have also read his Mickey Maller stores (I think this is the 2nd). This was a wonderful mystery book; I was just sad when the story ended.

Mike: Sorry this one disappointed you. It was my first Connelly and I liked it (as you can see!), but I have none of his other books in which to compare this one…so maybe I would feel differently had I read his earlier work. The great thing about reading is that we all don’t like (or dislike) the same things…makes life interesting, doesn’t it?

I found the Brass Verdict disappointing. I’m a Connelly fan and I’ve read all the Bosch books, the Lincoln Lawyer and most of the other stand alones. The plot was tepid and there were too many tedious explanations and too much self congratulatory filler. If you’re a Bosch fan and want to pick up the book for that reason, don’t bother.

Kathy: This was my first Connelly…he’s been on my radar for awhile, so when I had the chance to get an ARC of this book, I grabbed it. He’s worth a look!

Amy: *laughs* I read your review after I wrote mine and they are almost the same!! Great minds….

Dawn: You were better than me at getting to the book. I think I got my ARC in June too, but just now got around to reading it! It is definitely a quick, fast paced read.

This was my first Michael Connelly book, too. I read/reviewed it way back (June?) as an ARC. I’d like to read more of his books (esp. the Harry Bosch books) when I need something quick-paced.

I’ve never read any of Michael Connelly’s work, but I’ve been reading a lot of good things about his books lately, so I want to rectify that soon.
