November 7, 2008
I must admit that my blog reading has suffered over the last few weeks due to me being, quite simply, overwhelmed with my current work load. But, I’ve tried to still make a little time to browse the blogs I love and of course I am still finding books which I want to add to my ever growing wish list. Here is what I found this week (click on titles to view books on Amazon; click on blog reviewer to read their review):
Dogs: A New Understanding of Canine Origin, Behavior and Evolution, by Raymond and Lorna Coppinger as featured on Dog Ear Diary who writes: ‘This book is fascinating. It challenges so many widely held popular beliefs about dogs. With careful logic, the Coppingers examine what dogs are and how they got to be that way, from a biologist’s understanding.‘ Anyone who reads my blog knows I love my dogs and I am always interested in understanding them a bit better. This one goes onto my wish list.
Snow Angels, by Stewart O’Nan as featured on Lori’s blog She Treads Softly. I might as well just add every book O’Nan has written to my TBR list. Lori has this to say about Snow Angels: ‘This first novel by O’Nan looks at a slice of time in fifteen year old Artie’s life when his parents marriage disintegrated. At the same time it follows the story of Annie, Artie’s former babysitter, and her failed marriage and murder. With haunting and true to life characterizations, O’Nan seamlessly weaves the two stories together.‘
