I just finished reading this fantastic novel (read my review) … I started it on a Saturday afternoon and finished it on Sunday. This is one I can highly recommend - but, don’t just take my word for it:

I would love to read this. I’ve just read your review and what you said from a search and rescue perspective was very enlightening. “…the sense of urgency, the conviction that the lost person must be just around the next corner, the fear that giving up the search might be the biggest mistake you’ve ever made.” After reading your review I believe I would read the story with more insight. Your review already had me placing this on my good reads tbr list! LOL I guess what I would most love about this book is the change of heart Abby has about being a mother and how she falls in love with Jake and his daughter. Additionally, I love those books that capture the immediate moments after tragedy…like in Shreve’s Pilot’s Wife… from your review: “As the days turn into weeks and then months, many reach the conclusion that Emma has drowned - including her father - and all that is left is Abby’s certainty, her mother’s instinct, that Emma is still alive.”

I read your review and immediately wanted to read the book. As a parent, the book deals with every parent’s nightmare: losing a child. I still remember when my parents “lost” my little brother in Golden Gate Park for half an hour. I was only 10 but I’ve never forgotten the frantic search.
I grew up in San Francisco and love to read books set there. Walking along Ocean Beach in the fog used to be a favorite thing to do.

I keep hearing fabulous things about this book, but not in the sudden-barrage way that makes me suspicious. I feel like it’s stood the test of time, and now I’d like to win it, please.

I would love to read this book because like Abby, I’m not a mother, but I love my boyfriend’s children (9 yr old twins) as if they were my own and couldn’t imagine if anything like this ever happened. Just because you don’t give birth to a child doesn’t mean you’re not a mom at heart. Thanks for entering me!

I want to read this book because it sounds sort of like My Soul to Keep by Melanie Wells and I really liked that book. I don’t know why I’m attracted to stories about child abduction but I am. Thanks for offering up a copy for a giveaway!

I would love to be entered into this contest. I would love to read this book as I always seem to be obsessed with missing children cases. I am not sure why, other than the fact that I love kids so much an they are such a vulnerable group. I don’t have any children yet, and am already terrified of things like this. This is definitely a mother’s worst nightmare. I’ve been to Ocean Beach many times and can easily imagine the lure of the many momentary distractions. I’ve even had the experience of losing my son, albeit for only a few minutes - the longest few minutes of my life. I can’t begin to tell you the millions of thoughts that raced through my mind in just that short period. I can’t wait to get my hands on this book!

I first saw this book at Target. I added it to my TBR list because it sounded so good. The topic of missing children is a tough one for me, but even with a fictional account, as a Mom I always feel as if I can learn something about how to better protect my child, etc.

This sounds like a wonderful book - as a mom raising 3 kids with a wonderful man, who is a stepdad to two of those kids, I love that even though she was not the biological mother - her mother’s instinct new that Emma was still out there. I think it can be the same with a father, whether biological or not, the love is absolutely the same. Please enter me in the drawing for this book.

This book sounds so good! I was already interested but when you gave it such a good recommendation that really made me want to read this.
