Give-Away ENDS DECEMBER 13th at 5:00PM PCT

Thanks to author Michelle Moran, I have three books to give away this week:

  • TWO signed copies of The Heretic Queen (hard cover)
  • ONE signed copy of Nefertiti (trade paperback)

I read both of these books recently (click on each book image above to read my reviews) and loved them. Both are highly recommended for historical fiction lovers.

Moran has a wonderful website with lots of historical background including a Q&A about Nefertiti AND a Q&A about The Heretic Queen. Michelle’s blog History Buff is also fun to browse and includes information ‘about archaeology from around the world.’

I was really excited to see that Moran’s third book Cleopatra’s Daughter will be released in September 2009! To read more and view the trailer, visit this link.

Do you want to win either Nefertiti OR The Heretic Queen? Here are the guidelines:

  • This is an INTERNATIONAL give-away – no geographical restrictions!
  • Please leave a comment telling me why you’d like to win one of these books. Make sure you indicate your preference (if you have one) as to which book you’d like if your name is chosen. You are only allowed ONE ENTRY.
  • Comments will be closed at 5:00PM PCT on Saturday, December 13th.
  • I will draw THREE winners – two people will win a signed hard cover edition of The Heretic Queen, one person will win a signed trade paperback edition of Nefertiti.
  • I will contact winners by email, as well as posting them to my blog. At that time, I will ask for your snail mail AND how you want your book inscribed. If winners do not respond in five days, I will draw another name. Michelle will be mailing the books directly to you!

Good Luck!!!

I would love to win one of these books! I’m not picky, either, since I read a library copy of Nefertiti and would love to own it and have yet to read The Heretic Queen… so put me down for either one! 🙂

  1. I’d like to read them both and especially Nefertiti (my preference) I love ancient Egypt and reading about the Egyptians.

  2. I’d like to read either one because I feel like every blogger and their sister EXCEPT ME have read these books. 😀

  3. Hey Wendy! Please enter my name for a copy of The Heretic Queen. These both look yummy! Thanks!

I’d love a chance to win either book. I’ve heard tons of great things about Michelle Moran over the past couple of months; it sounds like her books are similar in tone to Pauline Gedge’s Egyptian novels, and I absolutely love those.

  4. I read Nefertiti and LOVED it, so I would be thrilled to win a copy of the Heretic Queen. I love Moran’s writing.

I love historical fiction and I enjoy historical Egypt as the subject. By the bye, I’m going to Cairo on vacation in Fall 2009 so I’ll be reading a lot on the subject over the next few months. Nefertiti is the book of choice since it’s first in the series. I’m crossing my fingers!

    • Marja on December 6, 2008 at 11:17

Please include me in the draw! I have always been fascinated by ancient Egyptian history and would love to read either of those books.

Also: thank you so much for having a draw that non-USA residents can enter! 9 times out of 10 we are excluded 🙁

  6. Hi Wendy, I just found you through the Bookies Too site. After suffering a massive heart attack in September, my dad will be having open heart surgery out of state soon to fix a complication that arose from the attack. I will be traveling with him and will have LOTS of time to fill with reading. I’m not at all particular about a title should I win. Thanks so much for the contest and Happy Holidays!

    • Elaine Barel on December 6, 2008 at 21:10

Living in Israel, I have a special sense of history. There is no other country as close to us with an ancient history than Egypt. I have been there twice and love Luxor and all its glory.
I am have been intrigued by Hatchepsut, the female pharaoh, in the past. Now the secret of Nefretiti would be so wonderful to read. I would love to receive Nefertiti and read it and learn some of her secrets as well.

    • Lindy on December 6, 2008 at 21:35

So nice of yu to give away books. Count me in..

  13. Hello Wendy,

I already have The Hertic Queen because I read with a group that has chosen it to read for January 2009. They already read Nefertiti as a buddy read and I missed that one because I had too many books on my plate at the time. Michelle Moran was nice enough to share in their book conversation. They all loved the book and Michelle. I would want the paperback of Nefertiti but would be happy to accept The Heretic Queen for one of my friends.

    • Isabel on December 6, 2008 at 23:22

  14. I’ve wanted to read Nefertiti for a long while, its been on my waiting list at my library since it first entered the queue a few months ago actually. She’s always been of interest to me, second only to my interest in Hatshepsut’s time. I loved your reviews thank you!

    • Kristi on December 7, 2008 at 11:36

    Hello,

I would like to win a copy of Nefertiti – I think I might have first heard about it at the AuthorBuzz website or maybe one of my book club emails? I think this is the one where we had the chance to go to the website and try to decipher something using heiroglyphics. (Hope I am remembering way off base here!) Anyway – would love to win!

    Kristi

  15. Nefertiti is already in my TBR pile, so I’d love to win Heretic Queen. Thank you for hosting this give away!

    • Linda A on December 7, 2008 at 14:23

I’d love a copy of Neferiti. I must confess that I haven’t heard of it but that is the problem of living in a little town in the middle of nowhere, while having a passion for history books 🙂
So this book is just up my alley, and it sounds so good, I am sure I’ll love it

    • Linda in Maine on December 7, 2008 at 18:48

Pick me! Pick me! Pick me! Nefertiti has been on my library tbr list forever…… and as a teacher working on Masters in History I would like to support my addiction to historical fiction. Yes, I have issue! Thanks!

    • Amanda on December 8, 2008 at 09:43

I would love to win the Heretic Queen! I recently received Nefertiti and am reading that one (and loving it) and just got back from a vacation to Egypt so I’m loving all things ancient Egypt right now. Thanks for the chance!

    • MizB on December 8, 2008 at 15:34

I’d love to be entered to win a copy of NEFERTITI (although, if you don’t have to read them in order, either would do!). I’m entering because I’ve always loved stories set in Ancient Egypt, and many, many people have recommended Michelle Moran’s works to me! 🙂

    Thanks for this opportunity! 😉
