Ann: I love challenges - but I really enjoy the perpetual ones the most (no pressure!). I've not read any books by the authors you mention...but I will look forward to your thoughts on them.

Kim: I was a bit aghast at how many books I actually own on these lists *laughs* I hope to make a good dent in the list in 2009.

Megan: I am excited about ALL these books! I also love Tyler's work...I've yet to read Atkinson, but have heard such good things about her work.

What a great year of reading you have ahead of you! I can vouch for The Amateur Marriage and Case Histories. I read both of them in 2008, and Anne Tyler & Kate Atkinson are now two of my new favorites. Hope you enjoy them when you get around to reading them!

I'm no good at challenges because I get so guilty if I don't complete them that it spoils my reading. However, this coming year I do want to read books by authors whose work I've admired in the one or two books I've already read, but who have a much larger output that I can still explore. I'm starting with Le Carre, Lively and Piercy but I would like to include Lessing and Pamuk as well.
