Weekly Geeks is back! For the first installment of 2009, the wonderful Terri from Reading Writing and Retirement wrote the post. She writes:
In the spirit of the amazing community building that Dewey was so good at, tell us about your favorite blogs, the ones you have bookmarked or subscribe to in your Google Reader, that you visit on a regular basis. Tell us what it is about these blogs that you love, that inspire or educate you or make you laugh. Be sure to link to them so we can find them too.
Another option: Reading goals for ’09 and wrap ups for ’08 have been pretty well covered by now on a lot of blogs and other memes. But if you haven’t done this, feel free to make that your first WG of the new year, in addition to or instead of the above.
I wrote a wrap up for 2008 here and here. And then I created two goal posts for 2009 here and here. So now I need to give out some linky love to my fellow bloggers. It was a hard decision as to who I should mention – I may only have noted a few blogs in my sidebar, but do not let that fool you. I have over 300 in my Google Reader! I have decided to profile a few bloggers who have left me a comment in the last week. I’m picking bloggers who you may not be aware of, but who write stimulating posts or highlight interesting books or who are just a fun read each day! Here goes…
Kristi from Books and Needlepoint – Kristi reads a wide variety of books and posts great reviews of them. She participates in a lot of the weekly memes and is addicted to challenges just like me. Go visit her blog – it is a fun browse!
Alyce from At Home With Books – I love reading Alyce’s reviews – they are well thought out and succinct. She has a very user friendly blog. Why not stop by and say hello – tell her I sent you!
Lexi from The Amazing Adulthood of Alexis – There is a little of everything on Lexi’s blog – food (I would love to eat at her house!), animals (her cat is gorgeous) and of course books. Why not drop in and see what she’s posted today?
Staci from Life in the Thumb – Staci describes herself as ‘a book addict (without a book I feel naked), hopeful, sometimes a good cook, a little crafty, a wannabe photographer, often times a very frustrated and tired mom ,a devoted wife, unorganized at home, organized at work‘ and her blog is just as eclectic. You really should go visit her!
Belle from Ms. Bookish – Belle says she has ‘an eclectic taste but favorite genres include mystery/thrillers, children’s and YA books, picture books and chick lit.‘ Her blog is organized wonderfully. I bet you’d like it!
Leah from The Octogon – Leah’s blog is quite visually appealing. She started her blog as a place where like-minded people could gather and discuss books. This is a really fun blog to visit, and I hope you will drop in over there and leave Leah a comment.
Dar from Peeking Between the Pages – Dar’s love of books is apparent on her blog. She participates in the Noontime Book chats too. And she has an adorable dog named Buddy. Stop in and say hello to Dar and Buddy and I bet you decide to go back again and again!
There are dozens and dozens more bloggers out there I’d like to highlight. Click through any of my post comments and you can find links to some terrific blogs there.
Now I am off to visit Weekly Geeks and find yet more blogs to read!

Great blogs – I’m going to be checking out Life in the Thumb – Staci and I sound a lot alike!
Ohhhhh, more interesting blogs to visit. It’s a blessing and a curse! LOL! It’s great to have WG back isn’t it? But it makes me really aware of Dewey’s absence.
I don’t think I’ve approached 300 in my Google Reader yet, but it’s growing every day. And now again, thanks to you.
Love you!
Wow!! What can I say but a big heartfelt THANKS for linking me on your post!! I am eclectic aren’t I? I even decorate my house that way. You know how people have themes? Not me, just whatever makes me happy. That’s how I pick my books too!! Can I just say that I adore your blog. It is a daily read for me. I would love to be able to express my thoughts about a book as well as you do!! Once again, thank you for the shout-out….I feel all giddy inside
Keeping warm in the Thumb of Michigan!!
Staci
Aw, thanks for the link! I feel like I’ve “made it” in the blog world now! But, oh crap, now I have several new folks to add to my blogroll…
Thanks for the link! Someone left a comment today that they were visiting via your site. I am finally getting through the posts in my feed reader tonight, and was so excited to see that you listed my blog for your weekly geeks post! Thanks again!
Thanks so much for listing me in your post! I have been having a rough couple of days and this made me think that I have actually been doing something right! You are definitely one of the top blogs that I read! (and I hope that Caribou is doing well, my sister has been nursing an older Chow mix for about a year, so I know the heartache that can bring!) Once again, many thanks.
Kristi

I’ve been thinking about you and Caribou all week, Wendy, and am so glad things are going better for her. (I realize that has nothing to do with Weekly Geeks, but it’s what I felt the need to say when I stopped by your blog).
Thanks for the great links!
Ali: thank you for your thoughts and kind words *hugs*
