Lisa: You know me well :) Thank YOU for the opportunity :)

Teddy: You make me blush! I loved Kirk's thoughts as well - gave me a lot of insight into how the novel came to be.

Rebecca: Given you background with kids, I guarantee this book will be powerful for you. I can completely relate to your work with kids - it is simply heartbreaking to see the damage done to abused kids (emotionally) and yet it is so rewarding to know you are having a positive impact on their lives.

Diane: You're welcome - this is a great book. Hope you'll read it!

I HAVE to add this to my TBR pile. I thought I might like this book, but now I am convinced I will love this book.

I taught disadvantaged four-year-olds for three years. In only three years, I worked with more exploited and hurt children than most people even think exist out there as a whole. And these children weren't even missing. They were mostly in homes with some semblance of a family (at least it looked that way to the unknowing eye). I worked with children being abused and neglected and had to call the Dept. of Social Services many times on families I had met. I got to know these children and I was able to make a difference in their lives, at least to the point where they would always have that dichotomy, that there was a different life out there than the one they were surrounded by at home and in their neighborhoods. That is what always got me through it because it was heart-wrenching work.

Thank you for enlightening me to this book. And what a wonderful guest spot by the author. I look forward to reading this when I get my hands on it. :)
