mailboxmonday Drop by and visit Marcia at The Printed Page to play along with this weekly meme – what arrived in YOUR mailbox this week? Here is what arrived in mine:

lastnightmontreal Last Night in Montreal, by Emily St. John Mandel. This uncorrected proof came via the wonderful Caitlin of Unbridled Books.  Due for release in June, this is Mandel’s debut novel and the blurb on the back of the book reads: ‘Last Night in Montreal is a story of love, amnesia, compulsive travel, the depths and the limits of family bonds, and the nature of obsession.‘ The cover is gorgeous and the story intrigues me. Watch for a review the week of June 1st when I will be touring this book.

lastprince The Last Prince of the Mexican Empire, by C.M. Mayo. Talk about gorgeous covers – this one is absolutely stunning. Again, Caitlin from Unbridled Books sent me this uncorrected proof which is a ‘lush, sweeping historical novel of Mexico based on the true story of the short, tragic, at times surreal, reign of Emperor Maximilian and his court.‘ I am enthralled with books like this. Mayo won the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction with her previously published story collection: Sky Over El Nido.  I’m looking forward to touring this book the week of May 5th (when it will be released)…so watch for my review at that time.
