Once again, I want to thank everyone one has sent an email, a card, or written a comment about the loss of my fur baby Caribou. Your words have been an enormous comfort – they remind me that we have all experienced these kinds of devastating losses and survived them. Several people also posted on their blogs about Caribou and so I wanted to provide those links here:
A fellow writer and friend – Sand
My blog has also been acknowledged for a number of awards (which makes me blush):
Florinda at The 3R’s: Reading, ‘Riting, and Randomness awarded me her It’s A Major Award for “the thoroughness and thoughtfulness of the reviews.” She also has listed a lot of other great blogs on that post. THANK YOU, Florinda!
Amy at My Friend Amy honored Caribousmom with The Well Worth Watching Blog Award. She wrote: “I just love Wendy. I think she’s wonderful and she has great taste in books.” THANK YOU Amy! I feel the same way about you!
Karen at BookBath recognized Caribousmom for the Premio Dardos Award (…in appreciation of the merits – culturally, literary and individually – of every blogger who expresses him/herself on his/her blog). She wrote: “This blog is simply stunning, gorgeous to look at and the posts are always so informative and interesting.” THANK YOU Karen – I am really blushing now!
Rebecca at Rebecca Reads also honored me with this award. She chose “fifteen blogs I haven’t mentioned before who write and read good stuff.” There are some fabulous blogs on her list. THANK YOU Rebecca!
Sally from Book and Other Games recognized my blog for the Your Blog is Fabulous Award. THANK YOU Sally – I think your blog is fabulous too!
I believe that is all of them – if you gave me an award and I missed it…please stop by and let me know. I will admit to being a bit overwhelmed this past week and although I try to keep track of everything I always live in fear I will forget to thank someone!

I also thought I would take this time to give you a brief update on how I have been doing since several of you have asked. My heart is healing, although I have my moments of deep sorrow and missing Caribou. I picked up Caribou’s cremains yesterday…an emotional moment for sure…and have created a small memorial on my mantel for her: a beautiful photo, her collar and tag, her search toy, the box of her cremains and a single candle. At some point, my husband and I plan to scatter some of her ashes in one of her favorite training areas…it is a beautiful wooded area which Caribou loved to run through with a big smile on her face.
My reading has been slow – I will be gradually posting reviews again starting today. I have been spending a lot of time cuddling the cats and giving Argus lots of love and attention. He seems a bit lost without Caribou here to tell him what to do. We have been taking long walks together and playing tug. Kip and I have been reminiscing about all the great memories we have of Caribou – I have even found myself laughing and smiling at them instead of sobbing…a sure sign that in time those memories will fill my heart with joy and not sadness.
Thank you again for all your thoughts, prayers and words of condolence and encouragement. They mean the world to me. I feel so blessed to have been able to share Caribou with all of you and it lightens my heart to see how her life has touched others.

Congratulations on all of your awards. I’m so glad to see that you’re beginning to heal after your loss.
Congrats on the awards. I’m glad that you’re starting to feel some healing from the loss of Caribou. She’ll always be in your heart no matter what.
I loved reading all the tributes, especially your friend Carol’s! Boy, Caribou sure had a lot of friends.
Congrats on the well deserved awards!
Thank you, Kathy…healing is a process, but it *does* happen…and I am doing so slowly but surely.
Darlene: Thanks…You are right about her always being in my heart. She was such an extension of me in so many ways.
Teddy: I loved Carol’s tribute as well – and yes, Caribou made friends wherever she went! Thanks for the congrats.
