I am late to post today as I spent the weekend (beginning Friday evening) attending a Crime Scene Tracking Training class with my county Search and Rescue team. It was a terrific class with some interesting scenarios on Saturday afternoon which we had to figure out by using our tracking skills.  Kip and I got home around 1:00 PM and I am just getting around to posting on my blog.

This week I finished reading Bleeding Heart Square by Andrew Taylor (read my review). It was a good read and one I can recommend. My thanks to Pamela at Hyperion for sending me a finished hard cover to read and review.

My current read is a real chunkster. Galway Bay by Mary Pat Kelly is an historical family epic about an Irish family who immigrate to America during the Great Starvation during the late ninteenth century. So far it is a good read, although I am only about 100 pages into the book. I will be posting a review this week along with a giveaway of a hard cover edition of the novel – thanks to Miriam at Hachette!

I have a surprise coming either on Wednesday or Thursday – so please be sure to come back then and see what it is. For those of you who already know what I will be sharing…shhhhhhhhh…don’t tell!

Until then, I hope you will enjoy the rest of the day and the week to come – and that your time will be spent with a good book!

Crime Scene Tracking! That sounds so cool! Sorry to sound like a weirdo, but it does. Anything that looks even vaguely like forensics is fascinating. If only I had known when I was younger. . . :-) Good luck with the class!!

    Thanks, Vasilly!

    Amy: I can’t tell you the surprise…but I know you’ll like it :)

Yvonne: Yes, there are a lot of people who are reading this book right now! I hope readers don’t get sick of reviews :)

Lezlie: It is REALLY fun to do – I’m a forensics freak too…I love Forensic Files. To me it is like this giant puzzle to figure out.

S.Krishna: I’ll have a review posted by the end of the week (I hope!)

Les: Yes, you are one of the people who already know *smiles* But you won’t want to miss my post (I promise!)

The search and rescue stuff sounds like such a cool thing to do with your dogs.

Can’t wait to see what the surprise is!

Ali: Search and Rescue is a great bonding experience between canine and handler…but it is also a TON of work, time commitment and expensive. The crime scene tracking class was not done with our dogs – it was a visual tracker class (where the person looks for and interprets “sign” on the ground to figure out what occurred there). I’m a Forensic File junkie so I find this stuff fascinating! The surprise is posted :) A new puppy for us!
