Many thanks to both Kathrine and Marleen for hosting this fun event. They were inspired by Dewey’s 24 hour Read-A-Thon, but this event was much more laid back – something that made it possible for me to participate right now!
My final stats for the event are:
TOTAL time spent reading: 9 hours
TOTAL number of pages read: 397
TOTAL time spent blogging: 3 hours
TOTAL TIME spent on Read-A-Thon: 12 hours
Number of books completed: 2/3rds of The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher (I read 1/3rd of this book before the Read-A-Thon started) – you can read my review here. I read 211 pages of Malice by Lisa Jackson (which has a total of 424 pages)
Some other questions Kathrine and Marleen asked us to answer:
How did the reading go for you?
This was a really fun event for me. I think mysteries and thrillers are very easy reading, even when I am tired. I never really struggled to keep going and probably could have read for longer had I started a little earlier in the day.
Did you have any major disruptions?
Well, I have an almost 5 month old puppy (you all know Raven by now!) and she was a pretty good disruption from time to time. But, luckily the rain cleared up by mid morning and she spent most of the day playing in the backyard while Kip worked on the woodshed. That gave me a big chunk of uninterrupted time in the middle of the day.
Would you join in for another read-a-thon later this year?
I would DEFINITELY participate in this event again later in the year. I have a ton of mystery/suspense/thriller books on my TBR pile and this is a great excuse to read them.
What else do you think about the read-a-thon?
I think it would have been even more fun if there were more participants. I liked, however, that it was dedicated mostly to reading and not a lot of other stuff going on. Also, that the goal was for 12 hours instead of 24 hours – for me, that was the difference in participating or not.
I would also like to thank those people who dropped in and cheered me on during the event:

Molly at My Cozy Book Nook
Kathy at Bermudaonion’s Weblog

Congrats on completing this readathon! I hope I can participate in its next incarnation!
Congratulations Wendy! Awesome job! I think I could manage a more laid back read-a-thon like this if the genre were right for me. How about a Historical Fiction one.
Thanks Avisannschild! The next one will be August 8-9 of this year!
Teddy: Ohhhhhh, I like the Historical Fiction idea…are you going to sponsor it?!?!?
Wendy, sorry it took me so long to respond. I am considering the possibility of sponsoring it. Unless someone beats me to it.
Teddy: I’ll look forward to it…keep me posted!!
