Mystery Read-A-Thon THIS WEEKEND!

August 8-9, 2009

Tomorrow begins the second Mystery Read-A-Thon. Apparently there are some administrative troubles…but the show will still go on! And I am definitely participating. The goal is to read 12 hours of the 48 hour period. I have so many books that fit this genre…and I’m not sure which ones I will delve into, so stay tuned. I also have four books I am planning to give away (all mysteries or thrillers). Two of those will be open for international shipping.

My plan is to update my progress a couple of times during the event. I know I won’t be going 24 hours straight. There is a Community Fun day on Saturday morning which Kip and I are planning to attend, so most of my reading will probably be happening Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

This is a really casual Read-A-Thon – no stress, just a lot of fun…so I hope that you’ll consider joining us.

  1. Good luck with your readathon. I never get a chance to enter these as the children would throw a hissy fit if I just sat and read all afternoon.

I am really hoping to participate in this read-a-thon as well. I am not quite sure what the family plans are this weekend, but I can surely find 12 hours to read, right?

I spontaneously picked up a book this week called Three Bags Full that sounds like a fun mystery – so I plan to start with that one. I also have 3 more books to read for the Cozy Mystery Challenge, so I do not lack for reading material.

I look forward to watching your progress.

  2. Ah Wendy, as you know I wanted to participate in the last one and couldn’t and I can’t make this one either, which I’m bummed about. (I’m leaving on vacation on Monday and I have WAY too many things to do before then.) Hopefully I can make the next one!

Best of luck and happy reading!

  3. I’m totally in! Just finished my opening post which will go up at midnight. Twelve hours in 2 days should be a breeze! I’m excited to see your giveaways too.

  4. This is the first I’ve heard about this, which is probably a good thing as I have a book (non-mystery) that I really must finish this weekend and had I been involved in the read-a-thon it would never have got done. Enjoy yourself.

Vivienne: It is hard to carve out the time for these, but they are really fun if you can pull them off.

Molly: Sorry to see you weren’t able to carve out the time…maybe next time!

Avisannschild: Aw, I’m sorry to see you missed it again! Maybe the next go-’round!

Gautami and Kristen: You both did great!

Anne: The advertising for this was not very aggressive – I have a feeling if more people knew about it earlier, there would have been a better response.
