Last night I ALMOST finished my second book – but I finally gave into sleep and stopped about 50 pages from the end. I managed to reach my goal of 12 hours of reading!
Just a reminder for all participants in the Read-A-Thon …. the last two books in the giveaway are up for grabs. Just complete the end of the event meme by NOON today (PST) and link to Mr. Linky. I’ll draw TWO names this afternoon and announce the winners here on my blog.
My Stats:
Number of Hours Spent Reading: 12 hours
Number of Pages Read: 588
Number of Books Read: 1.5
- Best Intentions by Emily Listfield (read my review)
- The Long Fall by Walter Mosley
What did you enjoy MOST about the event?
I loved having guilt-free reading time! I also really enjoyed doing the giveaways for this event. I have lots of books that fit the mystery genre, and this was the perfect excuse to read them. I also liked the longer time period (48 hours) as it made it less stressful to get in the 12 hours of reading.
Do you have suggestions to make this event better?
I was disappointed that so few readers participated. Many seemed to be taken by surprise that the event was happening – so more advertising in the two weeks prior I think would help not only promote the read-a-thon, but make it more fun with more people participating.
Would you participate in another Mystery Read-A-Thon?
Definitely!
Did you read a book for this event that you particularly liked and would recommend to other readers?
I really enjoyed Best Intentions – although I’m not sure I’d classify it as solidly mystery (more Women’s Fiction, I think). The Long Fall reads like a hard boiled mystery – not the type of book I normally read…but it is a quick read and worked well for this event.

I agree that the 12/48 works really well for me too. Having a youngster, there are just times that I have to set down my book. Great job on hitting the 12 hours and thanks for all of your hard work on this challenge!
Kristen: Thanks! It was really fun and I didn’t mind doing the extra posts at all
This would be a good read-a-thon for me to participate in some day.
Kathy: It is really low key and fun – hope you’ll join in next time
