German Shepherds are supposed to be dignified, regal, poised…but I somehow ended up with a goofball. I’m convinced she is a Golden Retriever in German Shepherd clothing.
Perhaps it is the influence of her brother Argus …
Who is teaching her all kinds of things – like how to lick the last dregs of beer from the bottle …
(Don’t worry – they aren’t really drinking beer. They MAYBE get a couple of drops of backwash – UGH!)
But every now and then, she gives me a glimpse of her breed – courageous, alert, instantly “on” just in case there is ever a threat to the safety of her pack…even still, she doesn’t usually drop the toy.
As always, all photos are clickable to enjoy a larger view! And in case you were wondering, the dogs are soaking wet because they had just gotten baths!

Why do dogs like beer so much?
How cute! I have a goldendoodle, so I know exactly what you mean by the golden goofball mentality.
Thanks for sharing.
I just love wet dogs!!
Someone has taught my black Lab to drink tea from a cup. We have to hold it for him and now he won’t drink it any other way.
Raven is not a goofball! My parents are older, so it’s all they can do to take care of themselves. They do love dogs, though, so they’re the “grandparents” of a couple of their neighbors dogs – a German Shepherd and a Golden Retriever. You should see/hear that German Shepherd when he sees my mom – talk about undignified!
Lisa: *laughs* I have no idea…Caribou also liked it, but the “bubbles” made her sneeze!
LauraEno: Goofy golden mentality seems to be universal! Glad you enjoyed the post
Laura: So do I! And it beats filthy any day!!
Vivienne: LOL – that is great! A cultured Lab…perfect!
Kathy: *laughing* Well, yes, they can all get silly from time to time. But you have to remember, I have Caribou to compare to…she was THE most serious dog…we could never laugh at her or she was insulted. Raven LOVES to make us laugh…and does so on a regular basis. To me, she is a goofball Queen
But what an adorable goofball!! Goofballs are the best pets. My cat Howie is a total goofball.
Suzi: LOL! I agree – it keeps things relaxed!!
Wendy-
Your dogs are so cute! Like you, I have pets with unique personalities. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have to cats (brother and sister from the same litter) and I swear they are really dogs trapped in cats bodies. It’s quite funny actually to watch them.
Oh so cute! Ours are very goofy too! Not what people usually expect from GSDs. They are so funny. Our older one is named Argo and he spends most of his days with a red Kong frisbee in his mouth too.
I can’t get over her giant ears.
She is so precious! Please, please can you send her here for a vacation. My neice Rachal use to come stay with us so her parents could have some alone time. Don’t you need a break? LOL!
Shonda: Thanks
I love their personalities…they are all so different in their own way.
Allie: I’m laughing – GSDs just LOVE holding things in their mouths, don’t they? And all the toys are THEIRS!!!
Lisa: Maybe some day she’ll grow into them!
Teddy: LOL – you might change your mind if you had her for a day. She is VERY energetic…so it is lucky she is also so cute
