Welcome to another edition of Mailbox Mondays – hosted each week by Marcia at The Printed Page.
Every Monday readers share the latest books which have arrived at their homes…and link those posts to Marcia.
This week I found some terrific books waiting for me…
Goldengrove by Francine Prose arrived from Harper Collins as part of a book tour set up through TLC Book Tours. This national bestseller is set in New England and explores the themes of loss and recovery in adolescence. Thirteen-year-old Nico must come to terms with the death of her older sister over one summer on Mirror Lake…and finds herself seduced by her sister’s boyfriend. Called “astute” and “magnetic,” Goldengrove is now available to readers in paperback. Prose is the author of fifteen novels and is a National Book Award finalist. To learn more about her work, visit the author’s page on Harper Collins.
The I
ce Chorus by Sarah Stonich arrived direct from the author who initially emailed me to get feedback on her book trailer (and trailers in general). That and a quick browse of Stonich’s website and the positive response to her work motivated me to accept The Ice Chorus for review. Stonich’s latest novel follows character Liselle Dupre from Toronto (after her 18 year marriage fails) to Ireland where she decides to write a documentary about the local people and their interwoven tales of romance. But before she can explore the inner lives of others, she must come to terms with her own past. Booklist calls The Ice Chorus a “subtle, lovely evocation of the trans-formative power of love.” Stonich’s previous work has received exceptional reviews. Her novel These Granite Islands sold 40,000 copies in the United States alone and has been translated into seven languages and short listed for France’s France’s Grand Prix de lectrices d’Elle. The Ice Chorus was released in paperback on September 1st through Alma Books (read more about them here on their site).
What about you? What books found their way into YOUR home this week?

The Ice House sounds fascinating. Someday I hope to visit Ireland just to see if it really is that green.
PS I love the dog pics! Are they yours?
Goldengrove sounds good – love the cover.
Both books sound good – it’s hard to pick which I’d start with
Here’s my Mailbox! ~ Wendi
Both of those books look good! Enjoy!
Kim: I would LOVE to visit Ireland! Yes, the dog photos are mine. The ones in the header are mostly of my search and rescue dog Caribou who I lost in January (she was 11 years old) and who this blog is named after. The golden is Argus…he is still with us. And now we have the new puppy, Raven.
Mary: I like that cover as well.
Wendi: *laughs* Always a difficult decision!
Kathy: Thanks!
