It’s October – and you know what that means? Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-A-Thon!
I love this event – it is all about reading to the point of exhaustion, blogging, visiting other participants, and making a serious dent in my TBR pile. For an obsessive reader, there is nothing quite so wonderful!
If you want to learn more about the event, visit the FAQ page. If you want to sign up, go to this post.
This year I’ve also signed up to host a mini challenge. I’ll be giving away a book and bookmark (open internationally), but you’ll have to wait for the event to find out which book I’m giving away.
Stay tuned for a post about what will be in my stack of reading for the event (I’m still mulling that over).
What will YOU be doing on October 24-25? I hope you’ll be joining the rest of us crazy people as we attempt read for 24 hours straight!

I would LOVE to participate in this as I’ve never been able to, but I will be on vacation and taking my first trip to NEW YORK CITY! I will cheer you all on in spirit but I won’t be online that weekend. Good luck and hope you make a big dent in your TBR pile
Hmmm. Maybe I can manage a mini challenge. Just no the whole enchilada as much as I would like to. I’m pulling for you though!
I love the read-a-thon. Every time we get closer to the start of one, I become more and more excited. It’s one of the best things about being a reader.
I am already pumped for the read-a-thon. I can’t believe it is less than two weeks away! I’m still in the process of compiling my reading list.
Katie: I totally understand (and it sounds like you are going to be having a wonderful weekend in NY!). There is always the spring!!!
Frances: Even if you just go around and cheerlead a bit, it is fun to be involved
Vasilly: I love this event too…I always get excited for it.
Stephanie: Can’t wait to see what you will be reading
I love this button/widget! I still can’t decide if I’m going to join in or not. Work is getting busy (love the holidays and retail) and I’m so tired when I get home. It’s all I can do to fix dinner, vacuum dog hair, read and catch up on a couple of blogs. I’m falling further and further behind with my reviews. But 24 hours of non-stop reading is sooo tempting. We shall see if I decide to join in on all the fun.
Les: I love that button too!! Oh, I hope you’ll join in the fun…but I totally understand the whole work thing and being so tired you don’t have the energy for anything but the necessities. I’ve been pretty burned out with work lately too. But the read-a-thon is so much fun…and you don’t have to do all 24 hours either (I usually make it to hour 20 and then crash). Hope to see you there!
I am very excited for the read-a-thon! I am on a mission to clear up my Google Reader before then because I don’t want to miss out on anything!
Ashley: YAY! Glad to hear you are joining in the fun
I’m in! I posted on my blog today and have my stack of books ready to go tomorrow morning. I plan to read from 7 am to at least 1 am on Sunday morning. We’ll see how it goes. I’ll be visiting you on my breaks. Good luck!!
Woo Hoo, Les!!! I am going to be up at 5:00 am (that’s when things start here) and hope to make it 20 hours…we’ll see!
5 a.m.?! That’s dedication! I thought 7 (on a weekend) was pretty good.
Les: *laughing* Well, Raven wakes me up around then to go out and potty anyway, so I might as well get up and get an early start. It is actually easier for me to get up early than stay up late…so you’ll see me fading at the back end!
Good luck with the readathon! I didn’t sign up to be a reader, but I’ll be here cheering you on!
Good luck today!!! It’s great your also participating in the mini challenge!!! Can’t wait to see what it is going to be.
Now that it’s past midnight and our eyes are drooping lower, it’s time for us night owls to get our second wind! So here is a big HOOT from Alabama. Keep on Reading!!!! Just a few more hours to go!!!!
Go Reading,Go Reading,Go Reading!!!
Rebecca

Belle: Thanks for the cheers
Milly: hosting a mini-challenge was fun!
Rebecca: I love your cheers *laughing*
