How is everyone doing? I bet you could use a small break from reading…so why not try out my mini-challenge?
This post is for a mini challenge for hours 8 through 10 of the 24 Hour Read-A-Thon. This challenge will close at the end of hour 10 (which is 3:00PM PST).
Collection Obsession
Most obsessive readers are also collectors. Besides books, what do YOU collect? Here is your task:
1. Take a break from your reading and wander around your house.
2. Take digital photos of your non-book collections (if you don’t have a digital camera, go to Google Images and find a representative image of your collection or collections).
3. Post your photos or images and tell us a little about your non-book collections (just a few sentences is fine).
4. Come back here and add your link to your post in Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post (please use a DIRECT/perma-link to your post and not just to your blog).
I will draw one winner at the end of Hour 10 (3:00PM PST). The prize for this mini-challenge is:
A hard cover, first edition copy of The Double Bind by Chris Bohjalian (almost new – it has been read once and is in excellent condition) and a bookmark.
I will ship internationally.

I’m feeling post-ed-out…so I’ll just pop a link in here to my magnet obsession. Have fun checking out the photo, just for fun. No ned to enter me.

I have a collection of soda/beer bottles, i love how they are all different in labels color and shape
No other collections here. I used to collect cherished Angels… but no more. Books are enough of a collection for me.
Cool challenge! I would do it, it’s that I do not collect absolutely anything! How sad is that? I have to rethink my reading obsession
I have a huge collection of pig collectables but we live in a small trailer for now and no room so they are boxed up so I showed our collection of DVD’s lol
Some of the mini-challenges don’t make sense to me because I have a big headache from reading so much but this one I could handle! Nice idea and thanks for hosting it. I loved this author’s book “Midwives” so this would be a nice win. : )
Wonderful, Wendy! I just wish that I had my entire collection here at the house to include in the picture…oh well.
awesome collections!
Such a great idea for a challenge! While I no longer collect them (and our current collection of over 150 are in the attic so I can’t provide a picture on my blog) — my husband and I used to collect Cookie Jars
Actually, I don’t really care about winning the book so you don’t need to put my name in for that. I just love talking about collections and seeing what people collect. I have many collections, some of which I don’t really do anymore (for instance, used to collect Boyds Bears village pieces but they are now all discontinued so have stopped the collection of them). I posted about my 3 main collections. Wonderful idea for a mini-challenge!
My collection is very personal!
I’ve left a post about the challenge. Thanks!
Yay the world(s) of fantasy…whether artistic or written.
My apologies for taking a week to respond to all your comments!
Serena: I love your magnet collection!
Donna: When I was a kid, I collected old bottles. I remember finding an old bottle dump once and spent hours digging through there and “claiming” the cool bottles I found.
Sheila: No need to apologize for “just” collecting books *laughs*
Lilly: Well, think of it this way – you are probably saving money (not to mention space) by not having another collection! It just says you are less obsessive-compulsive than the rest of us *smiles*
JensBookTalk: Pigs! How fun is that?!?!? Wish we could have seen them!
Jenners: Glad you liked the challenge
Trish: I loved your collection!!
Cindy: They’re fun, aren’t they?
Molly: Cookie jars are a fun collection idea…it is amazing the vast array of them that are produced. I especially like the ones made during the 50s.
Twiga: I have a collection of the Boyds bears…but they are boxed up right now. Love your giraffes!
Gautami: You get extra credit for creating a poem in the middle of the Read-A-Thon
Helen: Thank you!
Sara: Your post made me laugh! Thanks!
