Frances: I wonder if you've finished Irving's book yet? I did...LOVED it!! I felt a little disappointed in the last book I read by him...so I was so happy he was back to his signature writing in this one.

Kathy: I know what you mean about the time change...it always feels odd to me.

Sheri: Will look forward to your review!

Rhapsody: I DEFINITELY wish for more hours in the day...for reading, resting, sewing, hanging with my animals *laughs* Time goes by too quickly. I'm looking forward to Crossed Wires (I loved Sleepless in Seattle!).

El Fay: I am so looking forward to Atwoods book. I meant to read it last month...but the month got away from me.

Lilly: I haven't yet read The Fourth Hand (although it is in my TBR pile)...how is it?!?!?

Amy: I am not a huge cozy mystery fan...sounds like you aren't either. But I have seen some good reviews of Orgain's book, so I do think it is appealing to those who love that type of thing.

Nicole: I am looking forward to reading more Erdrich in the future.

RR: Another positive vote for Crossed Wires, that's good! I've heard so many mixed reviews of Wally Lamb's newest...I hope I like it...but I do think he can be a bit ponderous sometimes. (good word!)

Les: Oh, you definitely should read The Cider House Rules ... terrific book; a classic Irving. I also loved Owen Meany. And I loved this latest book by Irving. He is such an amazing writer in so many ways. I'm looking forward to the Lamb novel too.

Stephanie: Oh good to hear about the Oates book! Thanks!

Icedream: I don't read a lot of YA, but I bet Erdrich does that genre well. I just finished Garth Stein's book - wow, terrific. Loved it.

Glad you enjoyed Erdrich, I'm a fan. You may want to check out her YA books, they are wonderful too. They have become a series but the first is called "The Birchbark House".

I read "The Art of Racing in the Rain" and loved it. I started "The Hour I First Believed" and was enjoying it but couldn't finish it before the library due date so it's back on my "need to finish" list.

I'm anxious to hear your thoughts on the Irving book. I've only read A Prayer For Owen Meany (twice!), which I loved, but couldn't get interested in The Fourth Hand when I tried it several years ago. I have The Cider House Rules in a stack somewhere. I remember hearing it was even better than the movie, which I loved.

I haven't read any from your list, but am very much interested in The Hour I First Believed. I loved I Know This Much Is True. What a great chunkster!

Happy November. We had a gorgeous day yesterday. Felt more like summer with a temp of 77!!

I was peeking at the new John Irving book today - I'll look forward to your review.

On your November list, I've read Crossed Wires, which I enjoyed very much. I've also read The Hour I First Believed, which I found somewhat ponderous.

I love Louise Erdrich. She is so great. I discovered her in college and have read a bunch of her books since then. Glad you liked this one. She is a very poetic writer. Her stories are so rich.

Some good books in that pile! Crossed Wires is very cute - sort of a Sleepless in Seattle type book. I have some of the others in my pile too so I can't comment except to say they are there because I have heard so many good things about them! Don't you wish there were more hours in the day to read?!!!
