I am being more and more selective with the challenges I join – primarily because I cannot do it all and I don’t want my reading to become stressful. In 2009, I reduced the number of challenges in which I participated and did not worry if I didn’t get them all completed. I used them as a guide to my reading – a motivation, but not an obligation.
The 2010 challenges are starting to get posted…and I am looking at a few which I will probably join. They are (click on the button to take you to the info and sign up page for each challenge):
There are also a few others which have not posted yet, but are ones I will most likely do in 2010 (if they are offered again):
- Themed Reading
- ARC Challenge
- Chunkster Challenge
I’m also planning to continue plugging along with my perpetual challenges (found at the top of this page).
Some of the challenges I started in 2009 will run into 2010…these include:
- Random Reading Challenge
- What An Animal Challenge
- Women Unbound Reading Challenge
- 1% Well Read Challenge
I think that’s plenty, don’t you!??!

I’m trying to take it slow and easy and see all the challenges out there before I sign up, too.
I will be signing up for a bunch but also taking it easy in approach.
I expect quite a few more challenges will be announced this week.
I’m starting to organise my challenges for next year too – choosing them for ‘combining’ value as well as interest. If one book can cover a few challenges I am one happy chickie babe
I am already into 5 challenges for 2010. Need to keep restraint now
But the historical challenge looks inviting.
I think that is a good amount of challenges. The only one on your list that I have joined is Women Unbound, although there is a good chance I will join the Chunkster challenge when it’s posted.
yup. i agree. I overdid on the reading challenges last year and stressed myself out. I wanna be able to read what I want and when I want. Most likely I’ll take up J Kayes 100+ Reading Challenge and also the YA Challenge since I seem to be reading a lot of YA lately. Happy Reading and good luck!
I hope you will consider the War Through the Generations 2010 Vietnam War challenge; here’s the info: http://warthroughthegenerations.wordpress.com/current-challenge-and-sign-up-info-2010/
I’m doing the thriller, asian, and new authors challenges in 2010.
Kathy: That is a good plan…I am getting itchy to sign up for some!
Amy: I expect to see more challenges popping up all the way into January! I always sign up for too many – but they all look so fantastic.
Sally: LOL – I know what you mean about overlapping challenges – I do the same thing
Shona: I keep adding more – oh no!
Stephanie: The Chunkster should post in January for a start in February (at least that is my plan!)
Ms. Buku: I did the 100+ challenge in 2008 and was happy to complete it!
Serena: I’ll have to think about the Vietnam challenge – I am not a big reader of novels which center around war…but I must say, your challenge blog is fantastic…and you had a terrific bunch of books reviewed over there (I subscribe to your blog!)
