Thankfully Reading Weekend

Thank-300x300I am a little late posting this since this event actually began yesterday…but this is a relaxing event, so no stress allowed!

The crew over that the Book Blog Social Club are hosting and they have a post up where participants can link up with other readers this weekend.

Yesterday I had to go into town for groceries which was actually a sane venture since most people had stocked up the day before Thanksgiving. Kip and I spent Thanksgiving with friends, but on Sunday we’re doing a mini-Thanksgiving with his parents at our house. I also stopped by one of my favorite quilt stores to see what they had on sale. I steered clear of the mall and all the crazy shoppers, however!

When I got home I managed to get some reading in…I’ve been reading The Superstress Solution by Roberta Lee MD (it will be published in January 2010) and finished it late last night. I’m thankful that the publisher sent me this ARC because I have been feeling pretty stressed lately…and Dr. Lee has some interesting suggestions which I think I can employ in my life. I’ll be writing a review a little later today.

I have only one book on my TBR list this weekend: Kristin Lavransdatter by Sigrid Undset. I want to make a good dent in this book by the end of the weekend. I’ve been wanting to participate in the read-along which is being hosted Emily at Evening All Afternoon and Richard at Caravana de Recuerdos. I am a bit behind them as they have already discussed part I: The Wreath. But I hope to get caught up this week.

I hope the rest of you are finding some down time to read this weekend…if so, drop by the Book Blog Social Club and say hello!

Please follow and like the blue thistle

I’m not getting a ton of reading in, but I doing a good job walking away from the computer for most of the time.

Reactions to Kristin Lavransdatter have been pretty lukewarm so far. Can’t wait to hear what your thoughts.

Sounds like you’re having a wonderful holiday weekend. Love the “no stress” idea.

  1. It sounds like you’ve had a nice weekend so far, Wendy. Happy Thanksgiving, by the way! I had planned to spend most of today reading, but suddenly realized that I needed to get a few Christmas gifts so they’d be ready for next weekend (hubby’s driving up to Central California to visit his folks). And since I need to mail most of my family’s gifts, figured I might as well get everyone else done as well. So, while I wasn’t reading most of today, I at least was shopping for books as that’s what most people on our Christmas list are getting this year.

I hadn’t realized how much of a strain being out and about would be on my back. At least now I have an even bigger reason to settle in and read tonight and probably through tomorrow. 🙂

    Enjoy your day tomorrow!

Good luck getting caught up with your reading!

  2. I didn’t get as much reading done as I’d hoped, but that’s ok. I hope you had a great weekend and holiday

Beth: I hardly read at all during the weekend – I meant to, but things just got away from me.

El Fay: Ha! I loved The Wreath … as you know!

Tami: It was definitely a stress free weekend!

WendyCat: Happy Thanksgiving to you a little late 🙂 I’m glad to see you getting on top of your Christmas shopping – I am so far behind I feel I may never catch up! I’m sorry to hear your back is still bothering you 🙁

    Vasilly: Thank you!

Serena: I hope your weekend was also wonderful. I didn’t read much either…but I relaxed which is just as important.
