ARC Reading Challenge 2010

ARC2010_edited-1

January 2 – December 30, 2010

See that huge stack of books in the button above? That is not that far removed from my stack of ARCs begging to be read. I admit that in 2009 I went a bit overboard in accepting copies of books for review…and so I need Teddy’s ARC Challenge to get caught up. Here’s what you need to know:

  • List all of the ARC’s that you have to read right now. Then throughout the year, you must continue updating that list as you receive more ARC’s (this is important. You should also strike out the ones that you finish.
  • Choose a level of participation:

Level Bronze

  • All of us who have or will have less than 12 ARC’s must read all of the ARC’s we have. Note, that if you have 11 ARC’s and then receive a 12th one you will be bumped up to catagory a.
  • All of us who have or will have more than 12 ARC’s must read and review 12.

Level Silver : Read 24 ARC’s

Level Gold: Read 25 or more ARC’s

Once you see my ridiculously long list of ARCs (below), you will not question my decision to do the GOLD level of participation! I have defined ARCs as strictly Advance Readers Editions (not simply books for review). I’ve organized these books by date of publication.

  1. Kathy says:

Good luck with all of your challenges!

  2. Nicola says:

Glad to see I’m not the only one with some 2008’s left. I’ve got 6 and I’m working on them now. Hopefully I can get at least 3 of them read before the new year starts. Then the other 3 will be my first books of 2010!

My list is as long (or longer) than yours so don’t feel bad. But I’d have to include review copies, not just ARCs as most books I get are final editions for review.

  3. diane says:

Now that is a lot of review books. Good Luck.

I could use this challenge as well.

  4. Caribousmom says:

    Thanks, Kathy!

Nicola: Oh, I’m glad I’m not the only one harboring 2008 ARCs! If I included all my review copies too, I’d be too embarrassed to post this *laughs* I have the 2008 ones right up there near the top of the stack too.

Diane: You betcha it is … YIKES! I’ve been better lately about not accepting so many.

  5. Les in NE says:

This sounds like the perfect challenge for me! I did a quick count from across the room and I easily have a dozen stacked up. Not sure if I have any from 2008, though. ;)

  6. Teddy says:

I’m glad you joining the challenge again in 2010 Wendy. I think we have about the same number of ARC and I know I have a few from 2008. I’m so glad to know that I am not alone. I vowed to cut down on the number I accept but so far that isn’t working to well for me. LOL! There are so many great sounding books out there being pitched to us bloggers.

  7. Caribousmom says:

Les: Lucky you only having a dozen *laughs*

Teddy: I *have* to do this challenge just to keep me delving into the giant stack!!! I am trying to cut down, but I admit…I’m a total book addict. I – Just – can’t – stop!!!!

  8. Oh my! Your list makes me feel really good about my guilt list> which is down to only about 8 or so.

This would be a good challenge for me to join, though, so I have some pressure to finish all of them.

  9. Caribousmom says:

Rose City Reader: I admit, I join this challenge just to induce the correct amount of guilt to make me finish all these ARCs – *laughs* Happy to make you feel better – 8?!!??!? Oh, that is truly nothing *smiles*
