Good-Bye to our Funny Boy…

October 16, 1999 – December 17, 2009

Today Kip and I said good-bye to Argus – our sweet, loving, and funny boy. Despite our attempts to make him more comfortable, he declined rapidly and was not eating. This morning he vomited every time he tried to drink water. Always a hard decision when to help a beloved pet over the Rainbow Bridge, but it was the right thing to do by our boy.

Argus lived a full and wonderful life. He was a certified search and rescue dog, flew in helicopters, traveled all over the state of California into some of the most beautiful wilderness areas around, and spent most of his life with his soulmate, Caribou. He was really never the same when she died this past January…and so today when he passed on, I imagine he never looked back…but instead ran toward her with a smile on his face and his tail wagging madly.

We’ll miss you,  sweet boy. And someday we’ll all meet again…

Oh, I’m sorry to hear this, Wendy. He was a handsome fellow, and I can tell he was a good companion to both pups and people.

I am so sorry, Wendy! I can’t even imagine how hard that must be (Argo is my first dog), but I have a small idea. Thinking good thoughts for you!

    Lezlie: Thank you.

Luanne: There was no question we did the right thing, but you’re right, it is agonizing just the same.

Jeane: It does help to picture Argus and Caribou together…it is what they wanted.

Vivienne: Thank you…I truly have faith they are together up in Heaven…and that someday we’ll all be together again. That faith helps with the grief.

    Laura: Thank you, dear friend.

Shonda: Thank you for your prayers for us…Raven truly is a blessing right now…I think God knew what he was doing when he put her in our life earlier this year.

Kristen M: I think God always gives your heart more room to love again after such a loss. We are so grateful for Raven right now.

Diane: Thank you – you’re right, saying good-bye is so hard; but it is the last gift one can give a beloved pet.

Megan: Thank you…it has been a rough year with first Caribou and now Argus leaving us.

    Elizabeth: Thank you!

    Kara: Thank you so much.

Gavin: That is exactly the image I cling to right now. Thank you for stopping by.

Stephanie: It is one of the hardest things…

Serena: I know he is healthy and whole again, and enjoying being with Caribou again. Thanks for your warm thoughts.

Oh Wendy, I’m only now getting around to commenting here, sorry!
I am so sorry for your loss! Argus sure looks like he was hilarious! He has this mischievous look on his face in both pictures. I’m sure he will be with Caribou now, playing and being the funny guy he was down here.
Sending hugs from my part of the world!
