October 16, 1999 – December 17, 2009
Today Kip and I said good-bye to Argus – our sweet, loving, and funny boy. Despite our attempts to make him more comfortable, he declined rapidly and was not eating. This morning he vomited every time he tried to drink water. Always a hard decision when to help a beloved pet over the Rainbow Bridge, but it was the right thing to do by our boy.
Argus lived a full and wonderful life. He was a certified search and rescue dog, flew in helicopters, traveled all over the state of California into some of the most beautiful wilderness areas around, and spent most of his life with his soulmate, Caribou. He was really never the same when she died this past January…and so today when he passed on, I imagine he never looked back…but instead ran toward her with a smile on his face and his tail wagging madly.
We’ll miss you, sweet boy. And someday we’ll all meet again…

Oh, I’m so so sorry you’re having to go through the loss of another member of your family already. You’ll be in my thoughts.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember reading about Caribou in January and feeling your loss then. You are right though, as now they are together in heaven looking down and loving you and thanking you for giving them such a wonderful home and a loving family.

I’m so very sorry for your loss! I cried for you when you first announced he was sick and I’m crying for you now. It’s always so hard to let go of a pet (they’re our BABIES!) even though it’s the best thing for them. I pray God will bring comfort and peace to your home. May He watch over you, Kip and Raven. He blessed with you with two loving dogs. And now you’re fortunate to have a third blessing!
A full life worth celebrating! And you have done so beautifully here. Hoping your hurt heals quickly.

Oh Wendy — I am crying tears for you and Kip. What a difficult year you have had. I know there was great rejoicing in doggie heaven with Argus and Caribou met up with one another……but I also know there is a void here on this earth. I simply cannot imagine how difficult a decision you and Kip were faced with this morning — and it was made out of total sacrificial love.
Sending prayers that you, Kip, and Raven may be comforted during this time.

My heart goes out to you and Kip. This is the hardest part of being a pet owner. Yet you manged to do what was best for your beloved friend. Big hugs to you, and yes I too see the two friends reuniting and enjoying each others company again.
I am so sorry to hear of this Wendy. We have only had our Molly since June and she is such a part of our family, I dread the day we might have to make the same decision. I so respect you guys for doing what was best for him–and how wonderful your two are a couple again.

It’s always sad when a pet leaves us, but it sounds like Argus had no regrets in the wonderful life he led with you and Kip, Caribou and then Raven — truly, a dog’s life, in the wonderful way that phrase is meant.
