mailboxMonday1Welcome to the first 2010 edition of Mailbox Monday hosted each week by Marcia at The Printed Page.

Right before Christmas on the Sunday Salon, I posted about my most anticipated books of 2010. I wonder if one of Santa’s elves read my post…because one of those books arrived (to my great joy) just last week…

Singer's GunThe Singer’s Gun by Emily St. John Mandel arrived from Caitlin at Unbridled Books. This novel is getting outstanding early reviews by booksellers. The novel revolves around Anton Waker, a man whose life is not as it seems: ‘Anton Waker travels to the island of Ischia, off the coast of Italy, and waits, for what he does not know. As his past is peeled back, layer by layer, we learn that he is not what he seems and that no one in his life is without a secret.‘ Mandel’s sophomore effort is a suspense novel of international crime, false identities, and the limits of family loyalties. Since Mandel’s debut (Last Night in Montreal) made my list of the Best of 2009, I am definitely excited to read The Singer’s Gun. Read more about Mandel and her work on the author’s website.
