Wow, I have only heard of two of those and read only one, The Help. I am going to have to look these up and see if any look good to me.

As you know, I’m still slowly struggling through Wolf Hall. Haven’t read Little Stranger yet, but as I’m a huge Fingersmith fan, I’m sure it will be wonderful. My sister finished Lacuna several weeks ago and still hasn’t stopped raving about it.

At a glance I like the list, though I’ve only read Wolf Hall and The Little Stranger. And I’ve started The Still Point, and so far it’s excellent.

I have The Very Thought of You, Small Wars and This is How on hand, plus The Wilding and Savage Lands on order, so hopefully I will be able to evaluate things a little more come shortlist time.

For a second I thought I wasn’t going to even recognize any of those. I’ve read Wolf Hall (liked it better than you, but it was a tough read), The Help (enjoyed), and The Little Stranger (very good). I have Small Wars, but I’ve not read it yet. I’ll have to make that a priority so I will have read at least four of the contenders.

Byatt refuses to let her books be submitted for the Orange prize as she doesn’t like the fact the prize is only open to women, so that is why her book doesn’t appear (I didn’t know that until this week either)

I have read The Help (loved), Little Stranger (enjoyed) and Wolf Hall (so bad I didn’t finish)

I’m planning to read Black Mamba Boy and This is How in the next few weeks and then read the short list when it is announced. I may be tempted by a few others though!

I’ve read Secret Son and The Help, both of which I really enjoyed. I also have The Lacuna and The Wilding in my pile so I will try to get to them soon. I am sure I’ll want to buy The Little Stranger soon!
