Giveaway: The Outside Boy, by Jeanine Cummins

The Outside Boy, by Jeanine Cummins
ISBN: 978-0451229489
384 pages
Publisher: NAL Trade (June 1, 2010)

The Outside Boy by Jeanine Cummins is one of the hot new books talked about at BEA this year. I have this one sitting patiently on my bedside table and hope to get a review of it up by mid-month. In the meantime, the publisher has been kind enough to offer THREE copies for giveaway here on my blog! In addition, I am offering my Advance Readers Edition of the book (since I picked up a finished copy at the BEA). So there are FOUR BOOKS up for grabs!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

The Outside Boy is set in 1959 Ireland and follows young Pavee Gypsy Christopher “Christy” Hurley as he travels with his father from town to town with all their worldly possessions in their wagons. When Christy’s father decides to settle down in one town in order to allow Christy to attend mass and receive proper schooling, the boy discovers the pain of being an outsider. A long buried family secret and an old newspaper photograph may change everything…

Cummins’ debut novel has been receiving excellent early reviews.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Born in Spain, Jeanine Cummins was raised in Maryland and later spent several years living in Ireland. Eventually Cummins moved to New York City where she entered the publishing industry and  found success with her writing. Her first book, A Rip in Heaven, was published in 2004 and was a surprise bestseller. Read more about Cummins and her work by visiting the author’s website.

Listen to the author talk about the book:

This sounds like a great story. I recently read a couple of novels in which gypsies played a role, and I became very interested in their stories. Thanks for the giveaway.
