Shasta County Lavender Festival

You might remember that Kip and I spent a day in June enjoying a Lavender Festival at Tuscan Heights Lavender Center. I took a ton of photos and thought I’d share a few with you.

The center has a terrific shop which sells everything lavender. I picked up some spices (which I’ve tried on chicken and they are wonderful), as well as some lavender lemonade crystals and a t-shirt for a gardening friend.

There was a lot going on at the festival, including wine tasting from some local vineyards. After tasting some wine that was quite outstanding, Kip and I have vowed to visit some of these vineyards in person.

We also enjoyed watching the dancing entertainment provided by the Traveling Bohemians. The bright colors of their outfits and the joy of their dancing really captured me.

I could not resist photographing this adorable little girl who seemed to epitomize the celebration of lavender with her purple crown and wand.

And what would be a lavender festival without honey bees?

Good people, lovely setting, relaxing atmosphere – Kip and I enjoyed our day at the Tuscan Heights  Lavender Center. For more information, visit their site.

Lat night my husband and I finally watched the season’s last episode of Modern Family, and there was a really funny little interlude about a lavender farm, so it seems like this post is a little bit of kismet for me!! I am glad you guys had such an amazing time, and the photos you took are lovely! I would love the chance to get to visit a lavender farm like this one, it looks beautiful!

  3. Lavender lemonade sounds wonderful! I love small, local festivals. They have sell the most unique items. Last year, my mom and I went to a thresheree jamboree and they had the most incredible jams.

  4. What a wonderful way to spend a day! I love the little girl with her purple crown.

Since I’m a Texas writer, I happen to have noticed that a blog called homesicktexan a week or so ago had a recipe for lavender ice cream!

Didn’t this blog here win some kind of prize? If so, many congratulations! It deserves it!

Darn it, I was just up that way in Burney Falls east of Redding. I love lavender and would have loved to have seen this!

It is too hot to grow lavender in Sri Lanka. It will just wilt and die! I love the coolness and beauty of the plants! and the smell of course.

I love lavender! The aroma is just wonderful, and it’s also one of my favorite colors :)

I’ve only been to one lavender farm (near Portland, OR) and it was just after most of the lavender had been harvested. Still lovely, though. I don’t usually like lavender flavored drinks or food, but I used to get a lavender scone mix in Oregon (at Nye Beach – Tea & Tomes) that was incredibly delicious.

Love that last photo in the series of the little girl jumping off the bale of hay. Too cute!

    Molly: Thanks!

Zibilee: This is the second time we’ve been out to a lavender farm and it is a great experience. VERY relaxing (must be all that lavender scenting the air!). Hope you’ll find one to visit one of these days.

Lisa: I’m a sucker for festivals like this one too. LOVE homemade jams – yummy!

Kathy: That little girl was SO cute…I just had to photograph her!

Andi: You’re welcome! I’ve used the spices a bit and they really are unique. I like them best on chicken, I think.

Trisha: I agree! I like to capture joy in photos…the dancing ones make me smile.

Shelly: Lavender ice cream!??!? WOW! Yes, my blog has picked up a couple of awards which I am honored by…thanks for the compliment!

Kathleen: You were right in my backyard! Burney is a great little place :) Maybe next year!

Mystica: Lavender usually loves the hot weather, so your weather in Sri Lanka must be scorching to kill it!!!

Laura: Funny – it is one of MY favorite colors too! LOL!

Les: The lavender taste can be a bit overwhelming, so I think to be good one has to go light on it in recipes. I love that little girl too :)

Teddy: Actually, the one last year was up in Mt. Shasta. They are both fun places to visit, although the views at the Mt. Shasta farm are to die for!
