Kathleen: You were right in my backyard! Burney is a great little place Maybe next year!

Mystica: Lavender usually loves the hot weather, so your weather in Sri Lanka must be scorching to kill it!!!

Laura: Funny – it is one of MY favorite colors too! LOL!

Les: The lavender taste can be a bit overwhelming, so I think to be good one has to go light on it in recipes. I love that little girl too

Teddy: Actually, the one last year was up in Mt. Shasta. They are both fun places to visit, although the views at the Mt. Shasta farm are to die for!

Zibilee: This is the second time we’ve been out to a lavender farm and it is a great experience. VERY relaxing (must be all that lavender scenting the air!). Hope you’ll find one to visit one of these days.

Lisa: I’m a sucker for festivals like this one too. LOVE homemade jams – yummy!

Kathy: That little girl was SO cute…I just had to photograph her!

Andi: You’re welcome! I’ve used the spices a bit and they really are unique. I like them best on chicken, I think.

Trisha: I agree! I like to capture joy in photos…the dancing ones make me smile.

I’ve only been to one lavender farm (near Portland, OR) and it was just after most of the lavender had been harvested. Still lovely, though. I don’t usually like lavender flavored drinks or food, but I used to get a lavender scone mix in Oregon (at Nye Beach – Tea & Tomes) that was incredibly delicious.

Love that last photo in the series of the little girl jumping off the bale of hay. Too cute!

It is too hot to grow lavender in Sri Lanka. It will just wilt and die! I love the coolness and beauty of the plants! and the smell of course.

Since I’m a Texas writer, I happen to have noticed that a blog called homesicktexan a week or so ago had a recipe for lavender ice cream!
