Unable to Resist….

Way back in July of 2009 I read Sea of Poppies, the first book in the proposed Ibis Trilogy (read my review). I loved it. I gushed. I told everyone I knew to read it. And then I waited….and waited….and waited for the second book…for more than two years.

Yesterday I bought the hardcover of River of Smoke. It is sitting on my coffee table, begging me to open it. And I have to wait a little longer because there are two books that have to be read first. But, I promise, you WILL see a review of this one before the end of the year!

YAY! I have also been waiting for the second book to come out. The first was a scrumptious read, hope this one is, too.

  1. Enjoy! I just picked up Sea of Poppies on sale for the Kindle. Initially, I thought it was a trilogy, so I wanted to wait to read it until the third one came out. Last week I read an interview with the author and he indicated it would be at least a trilogy (a series I can get behind!) I’m eager to start Sea of Poppies, and I hope I enjoy it as much as you did. I also hope River of Smoke is a worthy follow-up for you!

  2. Sorry, I meant to include a link to the interview: http://www.omnivoracious.com/2011/09/amitav-ghosh-returns-to-the-opium-trade-in-river-of-smoke.html

  3. Yay! I suppose that means I should get around to book 1.

  4. I just bought Sea of Poppies the other day after hearing that the second book was out and hearing that so many loved the first. Can’t wait to get to it! If you loved it, I know I probably will too!

  5. The cover of this one is beautiful. I am excited to read it too!

I hope you enjoy the third as much as the other two books. 🙂

It has just come into my library and I can not wait to get my hands on it! Thanks to Carrie for the link to the interview.

I have this one on hold at the library, but I have my hold frozen so that it won’t come in right away. I really want to read it but am not ready to jump into another by Ghosh just yet! I’ll be eager to hear what you think.

Sand: I’m seeing some VERY positive early reviews!!! YAY!

Carrie: So it may be more than three books!??!? Wow, that is great. I hope you love the first book – give it time with the language…once you get used to the dialogue, it starts to feel very natural. And THANK YOU for the link to the interview!

Kailana: Oh, I hope you’ll love it as much as I did!

Heather: I can’t wait to read your thoughts on the book.

Stephanie: I have to admit, I bought the first one for the cover LOL! But, then loved it so much that I didn’t even care about the cover on the second one (although I agree, its beautiful!)

Susan: Well, I haven’t read this second one yet (this one), but I do hope I will also love the third when it comes out.

    Gavin: Yay!

Erin: I really hope you’ll love the second book as much as the first 🙂

I just finished Sea of Poppies and I liked it quite a bit although I didn’t love it. I want to read River of Smoke and look forward to your review. I’m going to let a little time elapse before I reading the second installment. I hope you enjoy it!

I really enjoyed Sea of Poppies and have been looking forward to this coming out. Will probably pick it up when the paperback version comes out.

Sea of Poppies ranks in my all time top 10, loved that book. I didn’t know River of Smoke was out, I’ll get it tomorrow!

Amy: I’m glad you liked Sea of Poppies even though you didn’t love it.

Tom: I was just way to eager to wait for the paperback *laughs*

Sarah: I am with you – Sea of Poppies was SO great. Hope you’ll love River of Smoke just as much!
