Literary Blog Hop and Giveaway

The Literary Giveaway Blog Hop is an event hosted by Judith at Leswammes’ Blog. It is a great opportunity to visit other bloggers and to throw your name in the hat for giveaways. Judith writes:

Isn’t giving better than receiving? Most giveaway blog hops seem to be directed towards young adult and romance audiences. Those hops are not so ideal if you want to give away more literary books.

This blog hop is geared more towards books with some “literary merit” and has been very successful in the past.

I decided to join in because I have TWO books to give away.

Five Bells by Gail Jones (Picador, February 2012), ISBN 9781250003737, 224 pages

This is a brand new Advance Readers Edition. I am planning to read this book this month, so watch for my review in a couple of weeks – in the meantime, I have an extra copy to put into one reader’s hands. Told over the course of a single day, Five Bells follows four characters as they converge on Circular Quay, site of the iconic Opera House and the Sydney Harbor Bridge. The characters share “mysterious patterns and ambiguous symbols – including a barely glimpsed fifth figure, a young child.” Reviewers have called the novel “brilliant,” “intelligent,” and “luminous.”

Gail Jones is an Australian author who has published six critically acclaimed novels and been nominated for a number of major international awards, including the Man Booker Prize, Orange Prize and IMPAC Dublin Literary award.

Scottsboro by Ellen Feldman, ISBN 978-0-393-33352-7, 363 pages

This is a gently used paperback edition of the book. Read my review. Scottsboro was short listed for the 2009 Orange Prize for Fiction.

Ellen Feldman is the author of two previous novels. She is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post. Feldman lives in New York City with her husband.
