Mailbox Monday – June 18, 2012

Welcome to this week’s Mailbox Monday which is hosted this month at Marie’s blog – Burton Book Review.

Go to the dedicated blog for the meme to see the complete tour schedule in the right sidebar.

Last week I totally spaced out and forgot to post my mailbox, so this week’s post is for two weeks.

Harper Perennial sent me a copy of With My Body by Nikki Gemmell (June 2012) for this month’s BOOK CLUB pick over at Jen’s blog (discussion is this Tuesday). This is a “raw and resonant story of a middle-aged wife and mother who attempts to reclaim her lost sense of self by exploring the memory of an old love affair, the consequences of which have remained unresolved for years.” The book is being lauded as unique and captivating, poetic, and “unabashedly sensual.”

Nikki Gemell iis the author of several novels, including Shiver, Cleave, The Book of Rapture, and the international bestseller The Bride Stripped Bare. Her work has been internationally critically acclaimed and translated into many languages. Born in Wollongong, Australia, she now lives in London. Read more about Gemmell and her work by visiting the author’s website.

Two suspense-thrillers arrived from William Morrow:

15 Seconds by Andrew Gross (July 2012) is described as a novel “with breakneck pacing and nonstop action.” This is the story of an innocent man, framed for murder, who has to save the person he loves the most, all while being drawn closer and closer to an inevitable face-to-face standoff with a man determined to destroy his life. Gross’s writing has been compared to that of  James Patterson, David Baldacci, Jeffery Deaver, Lisa Gardner, Nelson DeMille, and Tess Gerritsen.

Check out the book trailer:

Andrew Gross is the author of The New York Times and international bestsellers The Blue Zone and The Dark Tide, and coauthor of five No. 1 bestselling novels with James Patterson. He lives in Westchester County, New York, with his wife, Lynn. They have three children. Learn more about Gross and his work by visiting the author’s website.

Blood Line by James Rollins (June 2012) “takes you to the edge of medicine, genetics, and technology, revealing the next evolutionary leap forward: immortality.” This is the next book in the Sigma Force thriller series.

James Rollins is the author of seven thrillers in the bestselling Sigma Force series (Sandstorm, Map of Bones, Black Order, The Judas Strain, The Last Oracle, The Doomsday Key, and The Devil Colony); the blockbuster movie novelization Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull; and six individual adventure thrillers. His books have been translated for readers in 32 countries outside the United States. Before becoming a best selling novelist, Rollins embarked on a career in veterinary medicine, graduating from the University of Missouri and establishing a successful veterinary clinic in Sacramento, California. He has worked as a writing instructor and guest lecturer across the country, and in 2005 he helped form International Thriller Writers, Inc., and is the group’s copresident, serving alongside Steve Berry. We became addicted to James Rollin when we need a book on tape for a long car ride. Listening to him definitely makes the miles go by faster. My son is eagerly waiting for this new one.

I just can’t wait to have a look in ‘With My Body’, I have been a great fan of this new generation of mom books, my husband actually calls them ‘milf-books’ (I admit it that there is some sexual and exciting thing in these books). But I love them so much.

The first two are completely new to me. I received Blood Line too (will appear in next week’s mailbox post).
