Book Blogger Events Coming Soon

Spring doesn’t just bring the flowers and warmer, longer days…there are two book blogger events which I always watch for at this time of year.

24read_lighter-300x300Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-thon opens its doors to readers of all ages twice a year in April and October. This year’s event is coming next weekend on April 27th and I’ll be there. I doubt I’ll make it the whole 24 hours (and that is not really my goal), but the event gives me a good excuse to spend an entire day reading from my stacks and connecting with other bloggers through mini-challenges. I’ve been unable to participate in the last few Read-a-Thons and I’ve missed it. So I hope you’ll watch my blog next weekend and cheer me on!

Want to join in? Sign ups are open here. You can also choose to be a cheerleader for the event or donate a prize (or two or three). If you’d like to host a challenge for the event, sign up here.

Armchair BEA 2The Armchair BEA is a fabulous event for those bloggers unable to attend the annual Book Expo America in New York City. The Armchair BEA brings the celebration to you by allowing networking among other book bloggers, authors, and publishers as well as special coverage of the event. This year the event is scheduled for Monday, May 27 – Sunday, June 2, 2013.

This is a well coordinated event with prizes, lots of communing with other bloggers, a chance to share on your own blog, and some great literary posts throughout the week. Check out the new FAQ page.

Interested in participating? Sign ups are open here. (Thank you to  Sarah of Puss Reboots for the great button!)

Are you planning to participate in either of these events?

  1. I’m really hoping I can take part in the readathon this time. I’ve signed up the last few times but not made more than 2 hours of reading. Been planning ahead this time. I think not taking part for 24 hours makes it better, you won’t lose the concentration through lack of sleep.
