‘Interpreter of Maladies’ changed my mind about the short story format; I loved it. I’m waiting for ‘Unaccustomed Earth to arrive from the library, so I’m seriously envious.

A family member urged me to read this book, but I felt so unmoved by it that as soon as I finished I could remember little of it! I don’t know why people rave about it so.

Generally, I do not enjoy reading short stories; J. Lahari is the exception. I’ve read both of those books and loved them, especially Unaccustomed Earth.

I agree with Andi - Lahiri is my new favourite author. I just finished reading and posting about Unaccustomed Earth and I have Interpreter on the to be read very soon pile. I can’t stop raving about this author to anyone who will listen to me!

Ooh, I think you will LOVE Lahiri. I enjoyed Interpreter of Maladies, and I just posted about getting Unaccustomed Earth from the library today! I can’t wait to get started on it.

Cal is towner’s dad. Lindley is towner’s twin who died at birth. Everything towner is telling you is from her imagination. Cal abused towner but she is disassociated from it and puts her dead twin in her place when this happens. Jack knows about lindley’s death, as does everyone, but towner has a mental problem when it comes to dealing with lindley’s death
